Cardiovascular disease kills approximately 450,000 women each year; in fact, more women die of cardiovascular disease than the next five causes of death combined. To raise awareness of this silent killer, the American Heart Association calls upon Americans to join them on the first Friday of February for “National Wear Red Day.” Whether it be a dress, t-shirt, a red dress pin or even red lipstick, the Association asks everyone to show the world their support for the “Go Red For Women” awareness campaign by donning something red. The staff at Deborah Heart and Lung Center and the Deborah Hospital Foundation, keenly aware of the dangers of heart disease in women, came out in a scarlet-hued force to show their support for the cause. In addition to wearing red, Deborah’s employees gave generous contributions to the American Heart Association. Deborah Heart and Lung Center is a specialty heart, lung and vascular hospital in Browns Mills, with state-of-the-art technology, equipment and facilities for the most sophisticated and current treatments in the fight against heart disease.
