Two of Deborah Heart and Lung Center’s physicians have been singled out as regional “Top Docs” by Philadelphia Magazine. Kane Chang, MD, Director of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Deborah has been named as a Rising Star by the magazine. Lynn McGrath, MD, Deborah’s Chair of Surgery and Vice President, Medical Affairs, has been honored as a Top Doc for cardiac surgery.
The magazine, which looks primarily at Philadelphia hospitals, singled out the two New Jersey Deborah physicians because of their extraordinary achievements in their fields.
Dr. Chang, as a Rising Star, was one of 64 physicians selected in the Delaware Valley whose work today will shape the future in their fields. As a physician under 40 years old, Dr. Chang’s emerging contributions to vascular surgery are a key indicator of the latest emerging vascular surgery trends. Most recently Dr. Chang introduced a new TEVAR procedure at Deborah, offering minimally invasive aortic aneurysm repair a dramatic departure from traditional surgery options for this potentially lethal condition.
Dr. McGrath, a seasoned heart surgeon, was recognized for his enormous body of work in adult and pediatric congenital heart disease, coronary artery surgery, and heart valve surgery. Dr. McGrath’s professional surgical accomplishments have exceeded the 11,000th open heart surgery mark a special distinction held by only a few heart surgeons worldwide. Philadelphia Magazine’s category recognition included only 17 cardiac surgeons in the Delaware Valley, placing Dr. McGrath in an elite group of surgeons.
“It is an honor to have these two distinguished physicians recognized for their outstanding achievements,” said Deborah’s President and CEO John R. Ernst. “We at Deborah are lucky that we have both a seasoned professional with the skills and experience to steer our operating room staff with a steady hand and clear vision. At the same time we are thrilled to have attracted the type of young talent that brings with it the promise of the future as new and better techniques are developed. At both ends of the spectrum Deborah’s patients are the winners. We are pleased that Philadelphia Magazine has recognized our staff’s achievements.”
