Deborah Nursing Unit Recognized As the Best in the Country: 4 Lesser Highlighted in Federal Government Inpatient Satisfaction Report

Deborah Heart and Lung Center was recently recognized as having one of the best inpatient wings in the country. 4 Lesser, which cares for the hospital’s surgical patients, was ranked in the 99th percentile for patient satisfaction in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), a federal database that compiles data on hospitals, allowing patients an easy way to compare facilities. “This is a testament to the superb quality of Deborah’s nursing staff,” said John R. Ernst, Deborah’s President and CEO. “It is a level of quality that permeates throughout this institution, but is especially evident in 4 Lesser. I am very proud of our nursing staff.”

This is the third time the 4 Lesser nursing unit at Deborah has been recognized as one of the top nursing divisions in the country. In addition to the recognition bestowed on 4 Lesser, the HCAHPS data compilation has marked Deborah overall as on the top two percent of the hospitals in the country for patient satisfaction, with those patients surveyed nearly universally reporting that they would recommend Deborah to friends and family.

The HCAHPS database is a federally-mandated measurement tool used by hospitals and the government to help gauge hospitals’ success according to patients themselves. The results provide an easy snapshot for comparing hospitals and their quality indicators. For more information visit www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.
