12th Annual Heart Challenge

The students at Lenape High School have a lot of heart, and a team from the school showed just how much they know about that particular organ by taking first place in the 12th annual Deborah Heart Challenge on Sunday, racking up another victory in Lenape's half-decade winning streak.
For the fifth straight year, the Medford school won the 90-minute, quiz-show competition that tests teams from area high schools on their knowledge of the heart, lungs and vascular system.
Senior Jay Patel said the four members of the team, who are all new to the competition this year, did
their best to live up to what the students before them accomplished.
"The kids before us, they worked hard to build up Lenape's reputation in this competition," Patel said. "We felt like it was sort of our duty to continue that and we put in the hard work that they put in and it's just good to be able to win this competition."
Lenape won with a score of 305 points, topping the second-place team from Shawnee with 255 points and third-place Holy Cross with 120.
Both Lenape and Shawnee racked up most of their points during the Jeopardy-style rapid fire rounds, leaving the other teams in the dust.
