This position, under Deborah’s Case Management/Social Services Director Michelle Johnson, has been created to foster a detailed review of patients’ medical records, in order to ensure that all the clinical documentation for coding is done properly and in line with medical standards adhered to by ICD-9-CM codes.
Samson joins Deborah from Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was assigned to the Cardiac and Lung Transplant Surgeons for clinical documentation improvement opportunities. Prior to that, she held several nursing positions at medical centers in Atlanta, St. Peter’s University Hospital, and in India.
“Ms. Samson is a welcome addition to our staff,” said Lynn B. McGrath, MD, Deborah’s Chair Department of Surgery and Vice President, Medical Affairs. “Her skills and expertise in doing a thorough review of our clinical documentation will prove valuable in ensuring that the ‘story of our patients’ is properly told and coded in alignment with national indicators, diagnoses, and procedures. Her efforts are sure to result in an overall improvement of our documentation, coding, reimbursement, and severity of illness classification. I look forward to her keen eye and input review.”
