Deborah Introduces New “Greener” Technology for In-House Sterilization of Medical Equipment

Deborah Heart and Lung Center has announced that it has replaced its medical instrumentation sterilization equipment, with new, state-of-the-art equipment, which among other benefits uses hydrogen peroxide in its sterilization process and leaves no toxic residue, which is cleaner and greener for the environment and safer for patients and staff.

The new Sterrad NX System is a low-temperature Hydrogen Peroxide Gas Plasma System that offers fast sterilization of a wide-range of instruments. This safe and rapid system replaces the Ethylene Oxide sterilizer system previously in use at the hospital.

“We are pleased to be able to introduce this new equipment to our Sterile Processing Services Department,” said Annmarie Bell,

Deborah’s Manager of Sterile Processing Services. “The new system not only saves time and is more efficient, but more importantly, we have replaced one system with another sterilization system that is far safer to our patients, staff, and the environment.”
